ROOT was founded by Big Boss (voc) and Blackie (guitar) at the end of 1987 as a way to express their darkness within. Their goal was to create Black Metal inspired by classic bands like Bathory and Venom. They began rehearsing in 1987 and soon recorded their first official demo tape entitled, "Reap Of Hell." In September of 1988, ROOT played their first gig in Brno, Czech Republic. Their second demo called "War Of Rats" was released the same year, and their third and last demo "Messengers From Darkness" followed soon after. The sound created by Root in these early recordings was distinct from anything else being created at that time. This could be attributed to the fact that they, like many Czech metal bands during this time period, were completely shut out of the international metal community by their Communist government. They created black metal in the face of oppression and the threat of arrest by the secret police. Big Boss once even went to jail for playing black metal and recording music. Musically, the band's sound from this time period might be closest to thrash metal, particularly given the overall pace of the songs. However, Root rarely sounds like a traditional thrash band, opting instead for a darker, occult style with interesting and original riffs and a surprising depth. The song structure is usually stripped down and very minimal, reminiscent of more modern black metal bands like VON, ildjarn, Burzum. The vocal styles range from theatrical baritone to blackish rasps. Also surprising is the inclusion of spacey, layered, guitar noise passages amidst the more structured black metal songs. ROOT “Dema” Boxset features all of their demo tapes from the late 1980's plus bonus live recordings taken from the Death Metal Session Festival vol. 2 (Prague 1988). This boxset contains over two hours of music including the original versions of now classic ROOT songs such as “666”, “7 Èerných Jezdcù”, “Høbitov” and “Píseò Pro Satana.” Also included is an extensive 32 page 12” x 12” booklet containing ancient, unseen photos from the early days, gig flyers, newspaper clippings, interviews, fanzine articles, etc. 4 LPs in two gatefold jackets, 32 page booklet, logo T shirt, A2 poster, a custom made box with artwork by Chris Moyen, and a vellum obi with a foil-stamped logo makes this one of the most complete and visually impressive boxsets to come out of the metal underground.

Tras la reedición en vinilo del primer larga duración de los maestros japoneses del Sludge/Doom Corrupted, ahora se vuelve a reeditar en CD tal disco que ya lo había hecho en 1997, y el cual era muy difícil de encontrar en este formato (y cuando se lograba su precio superaba los 50 dólares).


This is a re-release of their 1 track over 40 minute CD originally released from CORRUPTED's own label FRIGIDITY DISCOS in 1997. Although their sound is mostly known as a hellish eruption of torturable, holocaustic, raging sonic pressure, this masterpiece starts off with silent, effective, dubby introduction leading slowly into chocking, heavy, painful, atmospheric requiem for all living existence.
A totally spiritual ultra heavy masterpiece from the depth of darkness and chaos searching for the light in the distance. Definitlly this album can be described as a turning point from early agressive style to nowadays deep, inner, atmospheric style, and one of the most important release during the CORRUPTED's carrier.

Moho imagina la película definitiva de muertos vivientes

Años atrás, cuando un yanqui o un inglés me preguntaba “Y de rock y metal, ¿qué grupos buenos hay en España?”, tenía serios problemas para responder y, sobre todo, elegir el primero de la lista. Ahora el nivel ha subido mucho, o eso creo yo, y a la pregunta de marras contesto en un nanosegundo: ¡MOHO! Porque el trío madrileño tiene un directo que parte la pana; porque ha digerido como pocos la influencia de grandes como Eyehategod, Unsane y Buzzov-en; porque ha logrado que en un país tan amodorrado como el nuestro la gente se pegue largos kilometrajes para verlos; porque tienen dos álbums enormes (20 uñas y …he visto la cruz al revés); porque Edu, el batería, da hostias como vacas; y porque Iñaki, bajista/cantante, se despide en los mails con el “uh!” de Celtic Frost. Le di un telefonazo a éste último en una griposa tarde de domingo y lo pillé en casa, saboreando la grabación de su tercer disco.

Vice: Durante un concierto vuestro en El Molí de La Roca del Vallés, agarré del cuello a Raúl (guitarra) en un arrebato de locura. Más tarde me dijeron que da clases de boxeo, que me había jugado la vida.

Iñaki: Haha, qué va. A ver, es cierto, Raúl boxea y digamos que te podría soltar una buena pero es la persona más noble que te puedas encontrar y, aunque ya está un poco mayor, estas cosas así en broma, como que te levanten en volandas, le molan.

Siempre me han gustado vuestros títulos: “…he visto la cruz al revés”, “Semana Santa”, “Coche Fúnebre”, “Gargantor”… Suena a brainstorming de chistes satanoides.

Claro, todo son cuchufletas que se nos ocurren y ya está. Ya sabes que nosotros no tenemos letras ni nada, porque nos sale hacerlo así y porque utilizamos “la voz como un instrumento más”, como dicen los entendidos.

Siempre podéis ir de listos y decir que cantáis en “lenguaje preverbal”, como dijo Patton acerca del proyecto Moonchild.

Pues eso, hahaha. Bueno, de hecho, en el disco que acabamos de grabar hemos hecho nuestra primera canción con letra, tío. Es en inglés. Estaba viendo unas películas de zombies y, bueno, la letra pretende ser el argumento de la película definitiva de zombies. Matan a todo el mundo y se acabó.

Hace un tiempo, estuvisteis de gira por Inglaterra con los japoneses Church Of Misery…

De lo mejor que hemos hecho. En Bristol, el primer día, se nos cayeron los huevos al suelo cuando los vimos tocar. Son muy setenteros, con improvisaciones cojonudas, y además están como una puta cabra, no te lo puedes imaginar. Tenemos fotos del cantante en pelotas por la calle.

Me dijeron que erais muy buenos en directo. Casi tanto como pegando pequeños “palos” por ahí…

Qué cabrones, ahí ya te contaron demasiado… A ver, ¿a qué tipo de palos se refieren?

Supuse que se refería a estaciones de servicio, cosas así, no a la National Gallery. Que uno distraía mientras el otro mangaba.

Hahaha, algo de eso hay... ¡Pero en todo caso nos enseñaron ellos!

No resulta muy creíble eso de unos japoneses enseñando cómo robar a unos españoles…

Claro, y de eso se aprovechan. Muy educados, mucho “arigato” y “sumimasen” y entonces ¡zas!, te la meten.

Por cierto, si vais a tocar a Japón quizá tendréis que dar alguna explicación acerca del nombre: allí, Moho (pronunciado Mojo) significa maricón. Homo al revés, vamos.

Ya, no tenía ni idea hasta que me lo dijo uno de Lords Of Bukkake. Me descojoné un buen rato. Si vamos para allá, quizá podríamos darle un toque glam al grupo, pero no en plan moderno, a lo Turbonegro, no. Sería como Alice Cooper en los 70, todo pintados, con plataformas y eso.

Estaríais la mar de guapos, sí.

Sobretodo Raúl, hahaha.

News Located Further Down/ New Stock to the Right

To actually control information is a ridiculous notion, an unachievable expectation. We can however at least have a voice, and not allow others to speak for us, in speaking about us. Over is the time of silence, trying to stay back, then holding one's breath and diving under, hoping not to drown in the ocean of media: its polluted waters. Beginning is a new age of toil and a level of involvement. Because if we don't act, nothing will change. We are facing up to it, admitting our place, and taking a stance. Now we will voice it, enforcing greater truths and promoting values that mustn't be lost.

Before, there was not an appropriate medium through which to voice ourselves. However, now, because of developments of the label, we can address things on our own terms, and at least control these terms to the best of our ability. We are pleased to say that there is finally a source that we can verify, and others can too. Here at KLAXON you probably should not expect too many words, but merely hear the voice of our actions and the focus we choose.

One thing we must make clear is that KLAXON in no way supports the recent trend of academic black metal. Black metal is a natural occurence of the expression of death and its counterparts. It is a path that you will find by a way of life, and not a place for dilettantes or people who want to force BM into their own context. Black Metal is something done with total devotion, and purity of vision.

It should also be stated that we will not support the thoughtless and redundant tendencies of the black metal underground. The low standards and inability to see meaningless and repetitive concepts should not be tolerated. Using catch phrases and blindly following traditions is utterly pointless.

KLAXON strives for a greater sense of awareness: an attention to detail while always remaining thoughtful. Between the two downsides of the genre, that we mention above, exists a realm where death is real and infinite; illuminating and inspiring! We will always strive for this greater realization of the dark arts.

There is plenty of death to go around, be patient....... KLX 2007
